Moving Out and Summer Accommodation

This is our last current student blog post for 2016/17. We will be now only posting information on Tuesday’s at 10:00am for our prospective students. The current student blog will return on Thursday 21 September at 10:00am. Please see below for some final information about moving out of your residence, summer accommodation and who you can contact over the vacation period if you’re still in residence.

Moving out of your residence
This weekend marks the departure end date for students living within our 32 week catered residences and 40 week self-catered residences. Please refer to our ‘moving out’ webpages for information about your departure. Students are required to vacate their rooms and return their keys by 10:00am on Saturday 17 June. If you will be moving out of your accommodation prior to this date or outside of the reception opening times, please see your residence reception webpage for information on where to return your key out of hours.

Summer accommodation arrivals
Many students will be moving into either James Owen Court or Birks Grange Village studios on Saturday for the summer. If you currently live in University accommodation and will be moving to one of our summer rooms this Saturday (17 June) then please ensure you vacate your term time room by 10:00am. Emails have been sent to you all to provide you with information about your arrival but please refer to the information below depending on which residence you have been offered.

James Owen Court

  • Keys will be issued from James Owen Court between 5:00pm – 11:00pm. There will be a waiting room available at Lopes Hall where you will be able to store your belongings and relax.
  • Should you need to contact a member of the Residence Management Team – Tel: 01392 725286
  • It is your responsibility to organise transportation from Lopes Hall to James Owen Court

Birks Grange Village Studios

  • Keys will be issued from Ross House reception on Saturday 17 June 2016 between 10am and 1pm (Please note: unless otherwise informed, access to your room will be restricted to after 4pm).
  • There will be a waiting area available at Birks Grange Village Central Block where you will be able to store your luggage.

Please note that for the waiting areas then any luggage left unattended will be at the owner’s risk. There will be no storage facilities for any food items. Wi-Fi will be available.

If you are not currently living in University accommodation, but you are arriving for your summer accommodation stay on Saturday 17 June and your journey means that you are delayed until after 11pm, please contact  Estate Patrol on  01392 723999 upon arrival to arrange access to your room.

Summer accommodation availability
If any of you require one of our summer accommodation rooms in either a single en-suite at James Owen Court or a studio at Birks Grange Village then we still have availability. Summer accommodation is available for students whose contracts end in June/July but wish to remain in University of Exeter accommodation for longer or for any current University of Exeter students who wish to stay in our accommodation during the summer vacation with a valid Student ID card. Summer accommodation is available at any time between 17 June and 2 September 2017 for a minimum contract length of four weeks.

SID drop-in sessions
Our Accommodation drop-in sessions in SID will come to an end on Friday 16 June. We will be returning on Monday 18 September. If any of our current students wish to speak to a member of the Accommodation Office during the summer then please visit the SID desk between 9:00am-5:00pm Monday to Friday and a member of the team will be able to come and meet with you.
