Erica Brady

Erica Brady is a PhD student at the University of Exeter Medical School working with Dr Mick Craig and Professor Andy Randall in Exeter, plus Professor Vincenzo Crunelli at the University of Cardiff, funded by a GW4 MRC Scholarship.

Erica obtained her BSc in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Dundee in 2015 before moving on to graduate with an MSc in Integrative Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh.

Erica’s PhD is looking into the circuit mechanisms that underlie the network disruptions seen in Alzheimer’s disease, specifically focusing on the role that interneurons play in impairing slow wave oscillations. She is using both electrophysiological techniques and viral targeting technologies to record and manipulate interneurons in mouse models of Alzheimer’s disease, with the aim to study their network and intrinsic properties
