Please indicate special requirements during the abstract submission and/or registration process for any aspects of the Conference. This may be for visa, childcare, accessibility, car parking permit or dietary requirements. We are happy to accommodate your needs.
Visa
The conditions for entry to the United Kingdom vary according to nationality >> Check if you need a UK Visa. You may need to apply for the UK Standard Visitor Visa, which covers UK visits for up to 6 months.
We will provide the letter of invitation you require for your visa application upon your registration (provide the infomation requested here). To ensure that you allow for sufficient time for your visa application, we recommend you register early (by 20th April 2017), so that you make your visa application at the earliest 3 months prior to travel.
Please refer to the www.gov.uk website for further details regarding eligibility and process of application and check with the UK Visa Application Centre in your country about any specific papers you may require in order to participate in the IAU Symposium 335.
Childcare
Conference participants may take advantage of our specialist childcare provision. Children of any age, from babies to teenagers, are supervised by experienced and qualified staff at a nearby location. The crèche service housed in the Queens Margaret Building provides art and craft activities, toys and games tailored to specific ages and gender of the children attending (for a maximum of 30 children).
Prior arrangement for this service is necessary. Requests (including age of child) should be indicated during the registration process and at the time of abstract submission until the 5th of March 2017, for this to be supported by IAU (subject of approval).
Accessibility
We are committed to supporting participants with any disability or reduced mobility.
Venue: all campus facilities comply with the Disability Discrimination Act. View the access guide for Northcott Theatre. We would be happy to discuss individual requirements with guests who have a disability or who believe they would require assistance during an evacuation.
Accommodation at Holland Hall: some of the blocks in Holland Hall have lifts and there are a few ground floor rooms available. View the access guide for details and the general Access Statement.
Cruise: view a virtual tour of the Pride of Exmouth vessel to plan or understand the boat before arrival. The vessel can cater for the physically disabled or those with walking difficulties, but is unable to take motorized buggies or scooters. We advise participants with reduced mobility to opt for the second cruise “English Riviera” on Thursday 20 July 2017 (departing from Exmouth marina), as the first cruise boards directly from Sidmouth’s pebbled beach and therefore may not be suitable for those with reduced mobility. The crew will be happy to assist passengers with hearing difficulties to sit in the most suitable place. Assistance dogs are welcome.
Car Parking on Campus
Upon request during the registration process, we will issue permits for disabled car parking or for any external participant that is commuting (not a campus resident). Those who have requested disabled parking arrangements during the registration process will be emailed with the details of their parking space. There are also disabled parking spaces available throughout campus for blue badge holders who have not requested arrangements in advance. Note however that there is limited parking on campus, and that a permit does not guarantee finding a spot.
Without a permit, visitors will need to use the Pay and Display spots or visitors parking and pay for a day permit or find alternative parking/transport arrangements outside of campus.
