By Air
Exeter Airport: Direct flights operate into Exeter from (in the order of busiest European airports) Paris (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), Dublin (DUB), Palma Mallorca (seasonal), Manchester, Geneva, Malaga (seasonal), Edinburgh, Alicante (seasonal), but also Glasgow Intl, Faro (seasonal), Newcastle, London City and other smaller European airports; one option for international travel is to connect at one of these airports to an Exeter destined flight.
Bristol Airport: is the next closest airport, roughly 1h30 travel to/from Exeter. Travel to Exeter:
Either (a) follow the signs for the Bristol Flyer bus (situated just outside arrivals). Tickets straight through to Exeter can be purchased at the Airport. The Bus will transport you to Bristol Temple Meads Rail Station (journey time is 20-30 minutes), from where you can take a train to Exeter St David’s train station (journey time approximately 1 hour).
Or (b) take the Falcon coach service, an hourly and direct service operated by Stagecoach (with 19 journeys a day, 7 days a week). The fares are £13 one way, £15 for a return; tickets on megabus.com are bought as single journeys and start from as little as £1 (+50p booking fee).
Heathrow and Gatwick International Airports: the two largest airports in the UK, about 3 hours travel to/from Exeter. By far the cheapest onward travel option in both cases is to take the National Express Bus to Exeter Bus and Coach station. The options by train are:
From Gatwick: travel via either Reading or Clapham Junction to Exeter St David’s train station.
From Heathrow: either (a) take the Heathrow Express to London Paddington train station and then take the train from Paddington to Exeter St. David’s. Or (b) take the Rail air bus service from Heathrow to Reading train station and then take a train from there to Exeter St. David’s (book a through ticket at Heathrow Bus Station).
By Rail
Exeter is situated on one of the main rail lines in the UK and can be reached by rail from all major UK locations. Exeter St David’s Station is the main station into which the majority of rail services will stop and is a 4 minute drive, 14 minute bus ride or 18 minute walk from the centre of the University of Exeter Campus. Exeter Central Station, very conveniently located for the city centre, also acts as a main line stop for services from or on the London Waterloo line, and is a 3 minute drive, 11 minute bus ride or 18 minute walk from the centre of Campus.

By car
The M4/M5 links Exeter directly to London, the Midlands, South Wales and the North including Scotland. The average journey time from either London or the Midlands is 3 hours.
