Tina’s paper examines which situations people consider to be “a contact” and finds that online interactions are not spontaneously considered as contact and little agreement on whether fleeting interactions with strangers and negative interactions should count as “a contact”. Subjective definitions are also found to affect self-reports of intergroup contact.
