It seems ages since I last updated this blog, most of which has been spent in the library! Thankfully, since my last post the dreaded final exams have been and gone, and results received. I’m extremely proud and fortunate to be able to say I will be graduating from Exeter with a first, and owe this to some extent to my year in industry. Not only did the grades from work assignments help to boost my grade but I feel that I have done much better in final year than I would have had I not taken a year out.

I have greatly enjoyed my final year, particularly studying behavioural economics for the first time; this has been my favourite class by far. I was also relieved to get a graduate job sorted early in the year and not have that pressure hanging over me during the more intense periods later on.

I have recently been helping at university open days, talking to prospective students and presenting on my time at Exeter. This allowed me to reflect on my time and I will be very sad to leave. In my time here I have managed to take a work placement, study abroad, represent the university at BUCS rugby league and come away with a decent degree. As I said to several prospective students, if I have one piece of advice for a student starting their time at Exeter it would be to get involved. There are so many opportunities out there if you put yourself up for them, many of which will only be possible in your short time at university. Seize the day.

I am looking forward to returning to Exeter one last time for Grad Week in July, especially my hug from Floella! After that it’s back to London and the Civil Service. Having already worked at the Department for Work and Pensions for a year I will hopefully be able to slot back in and hit the ground running. I’m definitely much less nervous this time around.

I’ve included some photos of my time in Exeter and beyond which are taken from the presentation I gave at the open days. It’s just a fraction of what Exeter has to offer but I think I’ve had a pretty good time of it here. I’d like to thank everyone who has helped make that possible.
