It’s hard to believe that I have come to the end of my second year at Exeter already. It has been a big change from first year; living in a house instead of halls, the added pressure of exams and coursework actually counting towards my degree and the stress of trying to find a placement! But everything has turned out how I wanted. I ended the year having gained a 2:1 overall and have secured an amazing placement at L’Oreal – my dream company to work for!! I have really enjoyed this whole year, and although I am excited for my placement at L’Oreal I will be sad to leave Exeter for a year.

Unfortunately I am not going to be able to have much of a summer, as I start at L’Oreal on the 29th June. I have just moved into a flat in London, about a 10-minute walk from the L’Oreal offices, and only a short journey into central London, so I am looking forward to spending my weekends enjoying what London has to offer.

I am both nervous and excited about starting my placement. I am going to be a marketing intern for the brand SkinCeuticals, which is within the active cosmetics division of L’Oreal. It wasn’t a brand I have ever really heard of before researching L’Oreal, as they don’t sell their products in high street retailers. After researching a bit more into the company and being sent some sample products to try out, I am even more excited to start working with them.

This year is going to be such a good opportunity to grow, as a professional and also personally. The skills I learn during this placement are going to be so helpful when I come back in fourth year. Although apply for placements was harder than I thought it was going to be, I am so glad I chose to do an industrial placement as part of my course, and I am looking forward to having a (hopefully) amazing year.
