ET collective #01: first steps

Every week we (the educational technologists as a collective trio) will be adding an update on the way the project is going…

Ian and Rich have been working on the material from different angles – Ian by developing some instructions for the academics and making them readily accessible via Google docs, and by beginning the process of marking up the content (in terms of authorship and licensing) for two of the modules we will be making available – Environmental Geology and Introduction to Prehistory.

Meanwhile Rich has created designs for the syllabus pages that will link to the course content and for the course content itself.  He’s also been in discussions with one of the tutors regarding one (or more) theology modules that we may make available.

And I’ve been doing some catching up having been away from the project a little while. I’m going to be relatively more involved with the copyright side of things, and we’ve so far had several discussions on this subject: this week’s topics have centred on Bibles, the nest of licensing arrangements within Wikipedia and the use of illustrations from books. We’ve decided to gradually create and develop a list of copyright FAQs and to make these also available via Google docs.
