Founded in 2015, the Institute is dedicated to advancing the world through progress in data science and artificial intelligence research. Computer scientists, engineers, statisticians, mathematicians, and scientists from different universities and with different backgrounds collaborate together to tackle real-world problems in areas such as engineering, national security and medicine. The ATI organises a series of events throughout the year including Turing Lectures and Data Study Group meetings.

The London Mathematical Society

The London Mathematical Society (LMS) is the UK’s learned society for mathematics. Its purpose is the advancement, dissemination and promotion of mathematical knowledge, both nationally and internationally. The LMS offers workshops and training opportunities aimed at young mathematicians, sponsors and organises scientific meetings and coordinates an annual lecture series specifically aimed at the wider public. The society represents mathematics research and education to government and other national policymakers and sponsors.

Mathematics, University of Exeter

Mathematics is a crucial part of College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences (CEMPS) at the University of Exeter. Here in Exeter, world-renowned mathematicians conduct research in a variety of fields including climate dynamics, geophysical and astrophysical fluid dynamics, pure mathematics and statistics. The university has strong links with the Met Office and they share the common goal of applying mathematics and statistics to improve climate models. The addition of new postdoctoral researchers and PhD students has seen the Statistical Science research group at Exeter expand considerably in the past few years.

Global Systems Institute, University of Exeter

The Global Systems Institute (GSI) is an institute for researchers to collaborate with industry, policymakers and stakeholders to predict global changes and generate research that could deliver tangible and sustainable social and ecological benefits. To understand global changes and create a flourishing world, GSI promotes collaborative research across a range of research groups and individuals across the University of Exeter.

Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research

The Heilbronn Institute for Mathematical Research is a national centre supporting research across a range of areas of mathematics in the UK including Probability, Data Science and Computational Statistics. The Institute is run as a partnership between the UK Government Communications Headquarters and the University of Bristol. The Institute supports mathematics in the UK through Research Fellowships and sabbatical opportunities for mathematicians and data scientists, and through a range of conferences, workshops and focused research activities.

Royal Statistical Society

The  Royal Statistical Society (RSS) is one of the world’s leading organisations to promote the importance of statistics and data, and have done so since being founded in 1834. It is a professional body for all statisticians and data analysts with more than 9,000 members in the UK and across the world. The RSS organises an annual conference in the UK that attracts hundreds of participants from all over the world, this year’s conference will be held in Belfast at the beginning of September.

MAGIC

MAGIC (Mathematics Access Grid Instruction and Collaboration) is a group that runs a wide range of postgraduate-level lecture courses in mathematics using live web-based video technology. Currently twenty one of the UK’s top research Universities share PhD-level mathematics courses using live web-based video conferencing. Lectures are delivered at one of the Universities and transmitted live to classrooms around the UK. Students are able to interact in real time with the lecturers by asking questions and joining discussions. So far hundreds of advanced mathematics students have benefited from MAGIC courses.
