SHIFFT Project – Sustainable Heating: Implementing Fossil Free Technologies

The SHIFFT project is co-funded by the European Union (ERDF) through the 2 Seas Programme.

Total Project Budget € 6,363,069.98  University of Exeter Budget € 986,973.50   We gratefully acknowledge additional funding contributions at a rate of 15% from the Dutch Environment Ministry through the RVO and additional Belgian partner funding by the Provincie Antwerpen.

The SHIFFT Project supports the shift towards a low-carbon economy by accelerating the market adoption of sustainable heating solutions in the 2 Seas area. The project objective is to reduce CO2 emissions in the built environment by reducing the use of fossil fuels in heating of existing household and community buildings.

As a result of SHIFFT, sustainable heating solutions replace fossil technologies for heating of homes and community buildings involved in the project, stimulating the adoption of low-carbon technologies.

This result can be quantified as a reduction of 3983 tonCO2 emission/year. This is based on
• a reduction of 561 tonCO2/y resulting from 4 direct investments by partners in residential and community buildings.
• a reduction of 3422 tonCO2/year as a result of the installation of sustainable heating systems and the adoption of more sustainable heating behavior by 4295 households in their homes in intensive co-creation processes in our partner territories.
