Sabrina Spangsdorf is a first year PhD student based at the Social, Environmental and Organisational Research Group, School of Psychology, Exeter University. She is studying the PhD part time while also working as a strategic advisor and educational analyst for the mayor and directors at Hillerød Municipality in Denmark. Her PhD topic focuses on the gendered nature of ambition and how ambition and success is perceived among young students age 15 to 20. The aim is to develop a more reliable ambition scale and to examine the causality between ambition and factors within the school environment such as classroom learning environment, availability of role models, gender stereotypes etc. that can affect young students’ level of ambition. Her supervisors are Michelle Ryan and Teri Kirby.
