DNA origami nanorobots

There’s a new report in Science, “a logic-gated nanorobot for targeted transport of molecular payloads” from Shawn Douglas, Ido Bachelet and George Church with plenty of coverage, including NatureNew Scientist and SynBio champion the Daily Mail. There is also an accompanying video (below).

I would also draw your attention to a great blog entry from Eric Sawyer’s Bio2.0 blog covering the current paper, plus DNA origami (from last year), which I have just stumbled across, and provides a great introduction to this area of research. Finally, some excellent pictures of DNA art: when art and science meet, nanoscale smiley faces abound – slideshow at Scientific American.
