Synthetic biology interviews
Sam Gaty and George Costakis are producing a documentary covering the first 10 or so years of synthetic biology. I don’t know what stage the project is currently at, but they have made some interviews available on their website that you may find interesting. Here is one of them featuring Tom Knight, Drew Endy, George Church, Mac Cowell and Allison Snow, covering topics ranging from the joy of iGEM, drinking with professors and the ecological challenges of synthetic biology.
Some of their material can also be found on the BioFiction website. There is a whole host of synthetic biology or biologically inspired short films (found here), including work from iGEM teams plus a look at the future of ‘video’-games – Bruce:
Great web page. Congratulations!
Thanks Gerd. By the way, you keep tabs on what’s what in SynBio, do you know anything regarding the progress of this documentary? Is there a release planned, or have I just not found it?
Found this browsing through some of our embed stats. Right now we’re currently in post production (so editing, etc). At the moment, there’s no set release date, but we’re hoping to finish it before 2013. A vague timeline, I know, but I can’t give a better estimate than that at the moment.
Thanks for the update, George. It looks like it is going to have a lovely ‘feel’ to it (if that is the right word?) Good luck getting it finalised.
