As one of our previous iGEM team members put it:
“Ever wanted to . . . RESSURECT THE DINOSAURS!?
Grow a GLOW-IN-THE DARK TREE!?
Are you: Looking for something to do in summer 2015. . .
. . . With a chance to travel to Boston USA!?
Exeter iGEM 2015 could be for you!”
Yes, its that time again. We are looking for undergraduates* to build a team to design, develop and manage their own research project in the fascinating world of Synthetic Biology (where physics meets engineering meets biology).
We are once more committed to ensuring that the Exeter iGEM team is truly multidisciplinary. Since 2012 students from Bioscience, Physics, Maths, Engineering, Computer Science and Psychology have all taken part. We encourage applications from other disciplines too.
To find out more about iGEM and synthetic biology, as well as what is expected from you, and what you can expect from us, we will be holding three meetings in the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies Lecture Theatre 1 from 9.00-9:50am. They will cover:
- Tuesday 25th Nov: Exeter iGEM 2014 team will present their project and will be available to talk about their iGEM experiences.
- Tuesday 2nd Dec: The SynBio Basics (for biologists and non-biologists).
- Tuesday 9th Dec: How to plan and run a successful project/team.
We will be requesting applications in Jan. (a CV and cover letter) and the team will be informed in early in Feb. 2015. However, if you are interested in joining the team it is highly recommended that you come to all these meetings.
See you there!
*those currently in their final year are not eligible, sorry.
