secularisation…  as with consumer socialism, my suggestion that consumer culture is subverting religious commitment didn’t seem to have much plausibility as long as the allegedly most consumerist country on earth (USA, again) remained apparently immune to things like atheism, agnosticism and religious indifference. This is (slowly) changing – and (like the changing attitude towards the terms “socialism” and “capitalism”) it is a generational change, which suggests it is here to stay.
