University of Exeter launches new degree apprenticeship to tackle construction skills gap - Apprenticeships

The University of Exeter will train the next generation of industry-leading civil engineers as part of its innovative new degree apprenticeship programme.

The University is launching the pioneering BEng Civil Engineering Site Management programme to help tackle a crucial skills gap experienced in the UK construction industry.

The part-time degree apprenticeship, which will see participants study for five years through a mix of on-campus teaching, blended learning and vital real-world experience in the workplace.

The University has teamed up with international engineering company Laing O’Rourke, together with their partners at Hinkley Point C, to deliver the degree apprenticeship.

The programme launches later this year, with 25 students allocated across the delivery partners. Each student will earn a salary throughout their studies and have their tuition fee paid for by the company they are working with.
