2017 was the Exeter College Early Years Apprenticeships employer’s group inaugural year.  The employers group have been key in identifying changes to the programme timetabling, content and added value opportunities for the Apprentices.

The employers group meet termly and members of the group come into to carry out sessions with the learners.  Exeter College and the employer’s group are planning an Apprentice Exchange week later this year where learners will get the opportunity to move around different locations to gain a broader range of experience.

Louise’s, and the employer group’s, input has been invaluable in ensuring the College meet the needs of employers and the sector, and as a result they have presented with a plaque and the status of “Apprenticeship Employer Ambassadors”.   The award was presented to Louise by Mike Blakeley (Exeter College Director of Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement & Head of Business Solutions and Enterprise) and  Sam Hillman (Head of Faculty for Healthcare, Childcare & Public Services).

The University of Exeter Family Centre has had an apprentice in most of the past 15 years, and Louise, and Val (Louise’s predecessor) have been actively involved in the employment of apprentices and the shaping of apprenticeship training with the College and the Family Centre.

The relationship between Exeter College and the University of Exeter Family Centre has been, and continues to be, a key partner in providing an excellent experience for our Early years Apprentices as well as those on adult courses.
