Green Flag Award 2020/21 Winner!

We are delighted to announce that we have again successfully achieved the prestigious Green Flag Award for both our Streatham Campus and our St Luke’s Campus!

The Award is the mark of a quality park or green space which has achieved the international standards for open space excellence.

The Grounds team work hard throughout the year using their extensive skills and experience to nurture our beautiful grounds and we are extremely proud of this achievement and the wonderful grounds that we have the privilege to work in and enjoy.

RoSPA Health & Safety Gold Award Winner!

We are delighted to announce that the University of Exeter’s Grounds Team have been awarded the RoSPA Health & Safety Gold Award!

RoSPA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) is a recognised world wide industry leader in health and safety excellence and advice.

The Gold Award recognises the efforts made to have systems and processes in place that protect staff working in areas of potential high risk and an understanding across all the members of the Grounds Team to keep themselves and others safe.

This fantastic achievement was the result of a year’s work and a group effort involving the Grounds Team and the Health and Safety Team at the University of Exeter.

It is excellent recognition for the effort David Evans from the Grounds Team and Ian Stone from the Health and Safety Team put in to compiling and submitting the application to RoSPA.

Celebrating our Successes – Grounds Staff Celebration Event

The annual Grounds Staff Celebration Event was held on Friday 6th December 2019; this event is held every year to thank all our staff for their hard work, enthusiasm and dedication during the past year and to celebrate our successes.

  • Successful Open Days with excellent feedback on the quality of the grounds;
  • Successful Graduation ceremonies;
  • Successful Redcot Garden Party;
  • Success in resecuring the Green Flag Award for Streatham Campus and St Luke’s Campus;
  • Success in delivering an excellent student outdoor sports experience and a BUCS top 10 league position;
  • Success with increasing income through plant sales;
  • Success in delivering business as usual during severe weather incidents such a high winds and snow and ice treatments;
  • Success in achieving over 2,800 followers on the Grounds social media platform.
