Introducing new lecturers, Changxu Liu and Rupam Das

Two of our new Lecturers, Dr. Changxu Liu and Dr. Rupam Das, presented introductory talks on 30th March to showcase their research to the wider CMRI and stimulate exciting new collaborations.

Dr Rupam Das previously worked as a Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Glasgow before joining us at the CMRI. Rupam’s research is multidisciplinary combining aspects of electronics, physics and biology with a focus on using electromagnetic and electronic tools in the field of implantable, wearable devices and medical imaging. In his talk, Rupam discussed the potential of metamaterials in different healthcare aspects from MRI imaging, implantable and wearable devices and biological safety.

Dr Changxu Liu joins us at the CMRI after spending time at Northumbria University, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich and University of Birmingham. Changxu is interested in metamaterials, plasmonics and nanophotonics with an emphasis on light-matter interactions in disordered and hybrid systems. For his talk, Changxu presented some examples of nanophotonic systems that have a robustness to disorder (fabrication imperfection) due to topology-induced protection.

We are excited to see Changxu & Rupam take the next step in their impressive research journeys by joining us at the CMRI here in Exeter!
