Students and archaeologists transport equipment and materials to the site in wheelbarrows. Archaeological excavations can be physically demanding but historically rewarding!

Students and archaeologists worked hard yesterday to meet the deadline of the close of excavation this week.

Excavations continued today…

Archaeologists and students took advantage of the warm weather today to continue progress on excavations at the site.

Site Open Day will now take place on Thursday 23rd August…

The postponed Site Open Day to the public will now take place on Thursday 23rd August between 11am and 3.30pm (weather permitting).

Please visit the information point at The Hub in Ipplepen prior to your visit to the site for further instructions and directions.

Over 100 visitors at the information point…

Despite the wintry weather and cancellation of our site open day to the public, over 100 visitors entered the information point at the Hub yesterday seeking information on the progress of the excavations so far. Students and archaeologists described their fieldwork experiences and ideas about the excavated features with local enthusiasts.

A flooded site…

Yesterday’s Site Open Day to the public was cancelled due to flooding on the excavation site. Students and archaeologists have their fingers crossed that the weather improves for our final week of excavation next week.
