We all would like to thank local villagers Tony and Judy for their […] At the information point at the Hub today, students (and professional archaeologists) get a lesson in how to interpret Iron Age/Roman coinage from Sam Moorhead from the Portable Antiquities Scheme and the British Museum. Whilst seeking refuge from the heavy rain this morning, Hub Manager Charley took the opportunity to seek the aid of fellow archaeologists in solving the mystery of setting up the information boards! Nick “the Vic” gave a talk to the students and volunteers today about the practice of metal detecting. After two weeks of excavating and training, the students create excellent photographic records of the site’s features so far. Students prepare the features at the site for creating photographic records of the excavations. Masters student Will has been excavating a possible Medieval limestone quarry. Student Alison worked hard yesterday continuing excavations on an archaeological feature. A great sherd of pottery with a pattern was discovered yesterday by student Matt. |
