I am from a small town in Wales called Llandovery. After doing my undergraduate I found this amazing PhD opportunity at Cornwall. I have visited Cornwall several times and love the area. My favourite thing about Cornwall is the definitely the pasties! I am really interested in Environmental Geochemistry, my PhD is focusing on mining and landfill waste on estuarine environments, this project is part of a bigger NERC project; Legacy Wastes in the Coastal Zone. My favourite mineral is Olivine because it has an amazing green colour but under cross polarised light in a microscope it has many different interference colours.
