The Contemporary Debates in Cinema reading group is a PhD-led reading group in the Humanities department. Our general aim is to encourage wider participation and engagement between those studying film (and other subjects) whilst fostering an informal and social environment for lively debate and discussion about recent ideas and trends within Film Studies and film culture more broadly. Some recent discussions have focused upon the introduction of VR technology and its impact on the medium, the so-called ‘death of cinema’ narrative that continues to be the focus of media journalism, and the idea of the modern cityscape and its representation on film. To be added to the mailing list and to receive the reading material for the next meeting, please contact Chris Grosvenor at .
