Build up to the Bahamas

The countdown has begun. Having arrived back home in Essex for a few weeks to enjoy Christmas with family and friends, and to enjoy the delights of a fully stocked fridge, its finally time to start counting down the days until the class of 2015 jet off to the Bahamas.

With the kit listed printed off and pinned up on the board it’s time to get organised and sort out my kit before the excitement of Christmas kicks in, and I can no longer move due to the volume of Turkey I have ingested.

With the intention of ticking off a few new bird species during my time in the Tropics I have ordered a guide to the ‘Birds of the Bahamas’. It didn’t take long for me to find my new target species, the Bahamas Woodstar, a Humming bird endemic to the Bahamas. Looks like I will be getting up early each day in order to find it!

Right time to wrap up some Christmas presents before I forget, no doubt I will soon I’ll be singing the lyrics to John Denver’s “Leaving on a Jet Plane”.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas…Billy
