Developing capacity in education and research is central on the road to a modern economy. Mathematics, the “language of science”, is crucial as it underpins advances in the sciences and modern technology. Hence, building capacity in mathematics education and research not only directly addresses Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 “Quality Education” but also indirectly a number of other SDGs. To build capacity in a sustainable way, strong partnerships are needed (SDG 17). Visit to Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar to capitalize on contacts built in recent years and deliver research capacity development activities.
