PI: Professor Brendan Godley

Funders: Darwin Initiative (DI)

This is a Darwin funded project which aims to support poverty alleviation and biodiversity conservation in coastal communities surrounding Grand-Béréby (located in the district of Bas-Sassandra, region of San Pédro, Côte d’Ivoire), through:

(1) increased knowledge of marine biodiversity and fisheries resources underpinning the creation of a community-managed marine protected area;

(2) increased environmental awareness and stewardship;

(3) a diversified skills base that enhances employment opportunities; and

(4) community-business partnerships that promote fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from natural capital.
