Virtual Seminar: The Emerging Challenges in Global Philanthropy

Abstract:

We live today in an age of global inequalities. Though income and wealth have grown progressively in most of the developed and developing countries, the gap between the rich and the poor has widened almost everywhere. This scenario is a compelling reason for exploring, debating, and addressing the challenges, old and emerging, that compromise the effectiveness and the equitability of global giving.

Some of these emerging challenges require greater engagement with wider societal and technological change, and others a degree of soul-searching: looking at the structures and dynamics within philanthropy to see where problems lie and where it can evolve to become more efficient.

This interactive session with Dr. Tariq Cheema will offer a unique opportunity to closely examine these challenges in global philanthropy, especially in the context of the Muslim world.

Speaker and discussant: Dr. Tariq H. Cheema, MD
