My main responsibility was to create a report on Advanced Care Planning- this involved researching the options available to individuals throughout end of life care, researching the main benefits of ACP, and formulating some plans to increase ACP within the county.

My biggest achievement was gaining confidence in the fact I have a versatile skill set that can be applied in different scenarios and in different lines of research to achieve strong outcomes.

What benefits did your internship bring to your employer?

I was able to help them promote internship opportunities within Healthwatch and allowed them to follow up on a previous report the published into end of life care.

What were your main duties and responsibilities during the course of your internship?

I interviewed volunteers and people who are receiving support from Macmillan and then produced promotional material for Macmillan to use in order to spread awareness of the support they provide.

What would you say was your biggest achievement over the course of your internship?

I really developed my communication and logistical skills. I contacted a number of different people, arranged to meet them and interviewed them all by myself.

What benefits did your internship bring to your employer?

I was able to produce a set of leaflets which will be used by Macmillan to promote the work that they do as well as encourage more people to come and volunteer for them.

Did you encounter any problems during the course of your internship and if so, how did you overcome them?

I often needed to interview two people at once (the volunteer and receiver of care) at the same time and was sometimes difficult to find a time that suited all three of us. In order to overcome this i had to be very organised with my time.

Support Field Assistant – University of Exeter

Archaeology Internship, University of Exeter Internship, UoE Internship, SCP, SBP, GBP, A2I

What were your main duties and responsibilities during the course of your internship?

During my internship I worked in an archaeological field school in Roman Devon. This was a collaborative venture between the departments of Archaeology, Classics and Ancient History who jointly funded the venture to enable and enhance the experience of students involved in the planned excavation and post-excavation of a newly identified Roman site. The internship helped to support the creation of a digital archive to be used in undergraduate teaching and public outreach.

What would you say was your biggest achievement over the course of your internship?

The internship helps me to hone my archaeological field skills due to the fact that I had to teach these techniques to first and second year students. My biggest achievement was using the internship to network which led to my being employed by a professional archaeologist I met on site.

Digital Media Intern- Bauer Media Trader

Universtiy of Exeter Internships, UoE Internships, SCP, SBP, GBP, A2I

What were your mainĀ duties and responsibilities during the course of your internship?

I was required to storyboard video sequences prior to filming. I was then required to film and take stills of particular cars, bikes or tractors being reviewed by experts (similar to Topgear essentially). My major job role was to then edit all the footage back in the office to create a smooth, professional video for the magazine’s online website. This also included background audio (music) which I had to find, buy, upload and layer into the video sequences. During my time at Bauer I was also required to write a number of summary reviews for online videos.

What would you say was your biggest achievement over the course of your internship?

Creating a professional looking video from scratch and having the digital editor upload it to the website without any changes.

What benefits did your internship bring to your employer?

The digital department was extremely overworked as it only had 3 full time employers that had to deal with over 10 magazines. I was able to lighten their extensive workload.

Did you encounter any problems during the course of your internship and if so, how did you overcome them?

The only problem was learning how to use ‘Adobe Premier Pro’ which was used to edit and create the videos. The program was fairly complicated and I would often need to ask colleagues to demonstrate certain things.
