What were your main duties and responsibilities during the course of your internship?

The role included looking after and analyzing the company’s financials and cash flow, book keeping, making sure the company wouldn’t run out of funds month by month and making budget spending decisions. I took part in raising capital for the company and also planned and ran the company’s Kickstarter campaign.

What would you say was your biggest achievement over the course of your internship?

The internship was rich in invaluable learning experience as I learnt many aspects about running a small business, ranging from business planning to executing decisions efficiently. It has definitely widened my skill set and supplemented my university education.

What benefits did your internship bring to your employer?

Being part of the business has contributed largely to the business growth. I helped the business raise a significant amount of funds which enabled us to open a manufacturing workshop in Ethiopia which was the main business growth project that year. Having me in the team analyzing and looking after cash flow helped the business use their funds more efficiently and supplemented the growth.

Did you encounter any problems during the course of your internship and if so, how did you overcome them?

The internship was fruitful and ran smoothly without any problems. From time to time, business had to face a healthy amount of challenges, e.g. sales seasonalities, which we overcame by focusing our team efforts together.
