Research

REACH-HF has been developed and evaluated in iterative research cycles.

We undertook a multicentre randomized trial to compare the REACH-HF intervention, a facilitated self-care and home-based cardiac rehabilitation programme, to usual care for 216 adults with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF).

REACH-HF was shown to be clinically superior in disease-specific HRQoL at 12 months and offers an affordable alternative to traditional centre-based programmes to address current low cardiac rehabilitation uptake rates for heart failure.

We are currently rolling out the REACH-HF intervention in ‘beacon sites’ across the UK (funded by NIHR and Heart Research UK).

We are also in the process of developing a digital version of the REACH-HF intervention to improve choice of, and access to, rehabilitation (funded by BHF).
