Hi everyone!
My name is Lydia, and I am a second-year Management and Marketing student here at the University of Exeter. I also work part-time as a student ambassador at the university, and in the communications department at the Sports Park.
Today I am bringing you my take on balancing study and work, something which has taken me some time to learn. I know student finances can be tight, and it can be necessary to earn some extra pennies. However, part-time work can also add to your personal skillset and boost your CV for future careers. It’s something I have learned so much from! (more…)

Speak to anyone who lives in Exeter, and they will readily give you their own personal rundown of some of the best things to do or places to eat – the list is endless! – but here I will recommend some of the most popular (but by no means overrated) hotspots in and around the town for you to add to your social itinerary! Many of these things are happening all year round so don’t be thrown by the title, if you’re coming to Exeter in September you will still be able to enjoy great days out with friends – you may just have to wrap up warmer for some… (more…)

My name is Kira and I am an undergraduate studying English on the Penryn Campus in Cornwall. In September I will be going into my second year of study, and I wanted to share my experience with the Penryn campus and why I believe it’s such an amazing place to study.
As a student who has been born and raised in Cornwall, when it came to deciding my university my first thought was to what was beyond the Tamar. I did all sorts of research for universities outside of my home county but eventually decided that the University of Exeter, not so far from home, was the perfect university that suited what I wanted to study. A research-led institute, an amazing English course with interesting modules, and an atmosphere that I loved. I visited both the Streatham campus and the Penryn campus and applied for both. I successfully received two offers and was determined to study with Exeter, so confirmed Streatham as my firm and Penryn as my insurance. (more…)

Hey there everyone! My name is Matt and I’m a second year History student lucky enough to be studying at Exeter’s Penryn Campus in Cornwall. There’s a lot to say when it comes to Penryn – and what I’ve included here is really only the surface of it.
On my first visit to campus back in year 12 (4 years ago, what!?) I got completely drenched, it was quite the first impression and cost me a brand-new set of clothes! What struck me immediately though was how I could see myself running from building to building in the Cornish downpours, unfortunately I’ve since realised it’s not as romantic as it sounds – but still a great laugh. I like to think what really sold it to me was hearing about summertime when a huge inflatable waterslide is installed randomly for a day on the hill outside Tremough House, but truthfully the place just clicked with me. So, contrary to the advice of my history teacher and sixth form leader, I put Penryn as my first choice, and can say confidently that I’ve spent the two best years of my life here. (more…)

Hi, I’m Prutha! I’m a second year Economics and Finance student from Dubai, and this quarantine really got me reflecting on the many plans my friends and I had once term ended, exams were over and the good times began. Instead , I’m 7 seas away from them and the only thing on my mind is how much I miss my time at university. So whether you’re enjoying quarantine, just graduated, or a fresher looking to study here, here’s 7 things I miss about Exeter.
Late night talks, nights out, trying to keep up with the British drinking games, 8:30 AM lectures, board games, disastrous cooking sessions and all the other everyday adventures I had with my friends and all the hours I spent laughing with them (or at them).

MA Creativity students interact and think at WeTheCurious.
According to trends in business and innovation studies learning to play again is the way to unlocking creative potential within one’s mind. To let go of what you think you know, strip everything back, and re-learn the basics can spark creative solutions to real life business problems. The MA Creativity: Innovation and Business Strategy students went to WeTheCurious in Bristol to test this theory for themselves. This is my record of the events of the day as one of these students. Choosing the University of Exeter is one of the best choices I have ever made!
I still remember that sunny afternoon in 22rd June, the first time when I arrived at Exeter, I was deeply attracted by this town. Its neat row of low red houses, clean and quiet street, leisure atmosphere, all of these make me feel comfortable and relaxed after such a long flight. This town is so beautiful that students on the coach started cheering and took out their phones to take pictures sharing with families. University of Exeter is an open university with no school gates, so I took a picture with the iconic stone as soon as I got off the bus. I can still feel the excitement inside because it was a new beginning for me at that moment. (more…)

Exeter has a leading reputation as one of the top 10/15 Universities in the UK, but many may be surprised to know is that there is more to Exeter than its main Streatham campus. There are several other campuses, largest of which is the Penryn Campus based in Cornwall, and with an ever expanding field of subjects and growing student numbers, this campus is going to become more prominent. Cornwall in the summer is an absolute delight, with a host of touristy spots and off the beaten track gems to be discovered. (more…)

Looking for something to do after you’ve reached a deadline? I have a perfect suggestion for you! A day out in Exmouth, which is one of the most picturesque seaside towns in Devon. While you’re there you can take a long scenic walk along the sandy seashore, reach the rocky cliff-tops and end your day in one of the local inns serving the regional specialty – Exe Mussels. In this blog entry, I will provide you with a short guide of how to get to Exmouth and make the most out of your time there! (more…)
