Careers event 25 and 26 January 2018

On 25/26 Jan 2018 there will be opportunities to network and talk to the research and HR representatives of various companies about what roles there are, what they do, what it’s like to work in these companies, and what you should consider when applying for a job.

The event is open to all final year UGs, PGRs and postdocs in EMPS and related Sciences. Spaces are limited to 80 attendees (first come first served).

11.00 – 11.30 Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory Hitachi Cambridge Laboratory (HCL) research aims at creating new concepts of advanced electronic and optoelectronic devices. Its research initially focused on microelectronics using transport techniques. Work has also been carried out on Single-electron parametron memory cell which led to the development of a major activity on quantum computation. Aside this, research on magnetism led in particular to the discovery of Coulomb blockade anisotropic magnetoresistance as well as Spin injection Hall effect.

12.00 – 12.30 DSTL The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory is an executive agency of the Ministry of Defence of the UK. DTSL recruits scientists, engineers, analysts, programme and project managers, and finance, logistics, medical and communications personnel. While each role will have its own individual qualification and technical requirements, there are some standard requirements and personal qualities they look for in their candidates. You must be a UK national and have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.
