There was a strong CDT presence at META 2022 in Torremolinos, Spain 19th-22nd July, with eleven of our PGRs presenting posters and two PGRs who contributed talks.
META is one of the largest international conferences in the field of metamaterials and nanophotonics and was well attended by CDT students. James Capers and Iago Rodríguez Díez contributed talks, and posters were presented by Kyle Arnold, Leanne Stanfield, Narima Eerqing, Hannah Barnard, Josh Glasbey, Jenner Gudge-Brooke, Euan Humphreys, Dean Patient, Joe Shields, Katie Lewis and George Braid. Some comments from our PGRs below:
Hannah: “It was great to reconnect with the wider physics community, particularly people working in the same field as me, after everything moved online due to COVID. I had some really useful discussions with a number of PhD students working on similar projects, and hope some of their insights may help me moving forwards.”
Dean: “The wide range of research topics discussed at META led to some really interesting discussions with ECRs in similar fields of study, with ideas discussed that I can apply to my own research. After being online, the in-person conference also provided an opportunity to connect with researchers from other institutes that I otherwise would not have the chance to do.”
Iago: “META2022 was an interesting conference to find out how other researchers utilize nanophotonic structures for a wide range of applications. Also, it was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the community in your field and have insightful discussions. The location in Spain and going as a group from the CDT definitely contributed to the great experience!”
