Darina al-Joundi

DarinaDarina started acting at the age of 8, and since then she hasn’t stopped working in front and behind the camera. Despite the war years, her endeavours weren’t only limited to Lebanon, she worked all around the Arab world, and in Arab-European co-productions. She went from theatre to television, from radio to cinema.

In 2001, after the death of her father, writing and acting became Darina’s new form of expression. She has been living in Paris since 2005, where her new adventure started with the immense success of Le Jour où Nina Simone a cessé de chanter (The Day Nina Simone Stopped Singing) at the 2007 Avignon festival. In 2012, Darina returned to the Avignon festival with Ma Marseillaise, a play written and performed by her.  More than anything, Darina is an actress, a women author searching for herself.
