Cancellation
It is with great regret that we must announce the cancellation of the Society of Early Americanists “Special Topics” conference, due to be held at the Universities of Exeter and Plymouth, 24-27 June 2020.
Your health and wellbeing are our highest priority and while we realise that the cancellation of events will cause some inconvenience and disappointment, this measure is aimed at ensuring that our response to the current situation remains responsible and informed by the latest public health advice and expertise. In addition, we recognise that ongoing travel restrictions are making it impossible for people to make plans for the near future.
Registration
If you already registered for the conference, we will refund your payment in full and you will receive this on the card that you used to book your registration within the next 10 working days.
Conference Afterlife
We are working hard to ensure that the intellectual conversations that were taking shape – and that would have developed during the conference – are not completely stymied by the Coronavirus.
To this end:
1. We can confirm that the Society of Early Americanists will automatically accept and transfer all Exeter/Plymouth panels and individual papers for the biennial next year (3-7 March 2021 in Atlanta, Georgia). Nonetheless, please go through the regular submission process as outlined below:
If you were the organiser of a panel accepted for the Exeter conference and you wish to submit this panel to the biennial, please do so via this linkby 15 June.
If you wish to submit your individual paper to the Atlanta biennial, please do so via this link between 1 August and 15 September.
2. The Committee is also in discussions about a possible publishing opportunity arising from “What Does it Mean to Remember?” We’ll be in touch again once we firm up these plans.
Heartfelt thanks for your patience as we made this difficult decision. Here’s hoping for productive and energetic discussions at the SEA Biennial in 2021.
