into the wild, 2012. natural pigment print on paper, 12 x 12 inches This image was the starting point for the Natural Alchemy project. I made it using light sensitive pigment extracted from flower petals, coated onto paper and then exposed to the sun. The process was originally invented by Sir John Herschel in 1842 and he coined the name Anthotype. He eventually abandoned research into the work due to difficulty stabilising and fixing images. However in an industry obsessed with the archival this impermanence of image is what intrigues me…
