In Workshop 3 we heard about the impact land management, soil health and pasture type can have on greenhouse gas emissions from soils and learnt more about steps farms can take to reduce emission associated with manure use, storage and application. We also heard about the freely available Crap App tool which can be used to help with on-farm nutrient management planning. (Please note, Andrew Neal’s presentation covered the impact that soil health has on emissions from soil, as well as the potential of soils to sequester and store carbon, a topic which we would cover in more detail in Workshop 4, which explored carbon in grassland soils.)
