The research in the Exeter Applied Neurophysiology lab is focussed primarily on electrical signalling in the brain and how this is disrupted in disease. We have a particular focus on neurophysiological dysfunction and associated cognitive dysfunction in dementias such as Alzheimer’s disease and frontotemporal dementia.
To this end we use a range of electrophysiological and imaging techniques to examine neuronal network function at a range of different scales, including whole cell patch clamp, systems-level in vivo electrophysiology and 2-photon microscopy.
