How long until I hear after submitting my application?
Applications will close on the 10th May 2020, and we will be contacting successful students in the week commencing the 18th May 2020. Due to the high number of applications we received last year we expect that we will not be able to contact every candidate to advise them of the outcome of their application. Therefore if you have not heard from us by the first week of June your application has been unsuccessful.
We will also update the website to reflect when all successful candidates have been advised.
If I cancel is my registration fee refundable?
Registration fees are non-refundable. These fees are used in the administration and setup costs of the school and are therefore non-refundable. For more information regarding registration fees please click here.
What previous experience do I need?
None! If you are applying for Block 1 or 2 you do not require any previous experience. We will be teaching you from a very introductory level. If you wish to take part in Block 3 you will either need to have at least some basic experience of programming or coding, or have completed block 1 of the summer school, which will provide an introduction to Python programming.
I am a PhD student, can I apply?
Exeter’s Institute of Coding Summer School is still in its first years of development and so is currently still subsidised by funding. This means we must comply with certain funding criteria which includes that places be made available first to students at undergraduate and masters level. In future years we hope to open this up further to research students.
Although we will be prioritising applications from undergraduate and postgraduate taught students, you are welcome to submit an application this year. If space allows your application will be considered.
