Langata welfare officers formally receive the Mindfulness workbook from Naivasha’s governor

In 2015 Langata’s governor, Madam Olivia, welfare officers, guards and inmates were trained in Mindfulness. It was during the training of the inmates that the @mindful screaming and @mindful shaking techniques were born.

In 2016 the translated version of the workbook is formally handed over from the men in Naivasha to the women in Langata, with the responsibility of making it gender-appropriate for other women in Kenya.

In 2017 more training was received and work was started on the different sections of the workbook, after which the first sessions with the women on remand took place.

In 2018 a change of governor and welfare officers meant that the project ran more slowly, but new welfare officers with great enthusiasm are now taking over.
